We are officially open! On 10th June 2009, not quite three months after we opened our doors to our first Companions, we were delighted to welcome the Emmaus UK Royal Patron, HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, to perform the opening ceremony. After meeting groups of people who had been instrumental in bringing the project to fruition, Her Royal Highness enjoyed tea with the Companions and unveiled a plaque. Please see our news page for more. |

Emmaus Oxford is part of Emmaus International - a charitable movement that provides a unique alternative to conventional services for homeless people. The essence of Emmaus is the creation of self supporting communities that provide accommodation along with work in a recycling business - the collection, renovation and reselling of furniture and household goods - thereby giving homeless people the opportunity to recover their dignity and self-respect. Emmaus Oxford's community building, in Temple Cowley, is now open. See our news page for more. This photo (right) was taken during the Christmas holidays, during the final stages of construction and a couple of months before we received the keys to the building. |

Things had changed a lot since April 2008, when this digger was snapped, busy at the task of site preparation! We are still working to raise funds to develop our Secondhand Superstore and run the whole project during the early years as it moves towards financial independence. Any help you can give us towards this will be gratefully received! |
