New opening hours from the end of June 2009! We are now open on Saturdays from 10-4, and Monday-Friday from 9.30 to the later time of 5pm!
We collect donated re-usable furniture, electrical appliances and other household items from most Oxfordshire locations (and some others near Oxford) and sell these on at very reasonable prices.
The store is currently open 9.30am - 5pm, Monday - Friday and 10am - 4pm on Saturday. There is an answer machine outside opening hours (and sometimes within, at particularly busy times, although we should have another line operational soon).
The postal address is Westlands Drive, Northway Estate, Oxford OX3 9QY. The Secondhand Superstore is next to the tower block, at the junction with Sutton Road. A map and directions can be readily obtained from your prefered website, but we even have our own map for you to download!
The community furniture store formerly run by OCVA was transferred to Emmaus Oxford as of 1st June 2008, so that we already had our own furniture store in advance of opening our residential building. We carried out some refurbishment and rebranding. The existing staff and volunteers continued to operate the store for us, working very hard to keep up with an ever-increasing workload. Sales figures increased, even prior to the opening hours extension we were able to make after a few months. From the end of March our Companions - as our residents are known - started moving into the completed residential building and began working at the store too. This has given a most welcome increase to the workforce and enabled us, amongst other improvements, to put a third van on the road.
